One of the young gents at work the other day came by my cubicle and asked me about a couple of authors - Anne McCaffrey and Raymond Feist. He remembered that I was a Sci-Fi fan and wanted my opinion on these two authors.
Being a HUGE fan of Anne McCaffrey's, I stated my stance on her Pern series and then made comment about Feist, who I've never read (Fantasy), but knew he was a big name within that genre. I enquired as to why he wanted my opinion and he mentioned he was downloading some Audio Book files to listen to when he worked out, etc.
That got me to thinking about my 1-hour (sometime longer ... the odd time shorter) drive home. I've tried listening to Kim Mitchel's show on Q-107, but he's no John Derringer in the Morning. Good enough show, but ...
I've listened to AM Radio
So, what better way to pass the time than "reading" a book through the car's radio using my MP3 player. (Please don't use earphones while driving!!) It's almost like someone is talking to you, but it's not distracting in any way.
I enjoy the narrators, as they tend to act out the book and in some cases, use different voices for different characters.
I've listened to one W.E.B. Griffin book - The Lieutenants (Brotherhood of War series) - and am now listening to the first Pern novel by Anne McCaffrey - Dragonflight.
I have more Griffin, McCaffrey, Niven, and Brown "books" to "read".
