Same shyte, different day.
We seem to be in a bit of a holding pattern at the moment. Word comes that the government contract is up for bid - only to find it's still hasn't come through yet. I got word this morning that it actually IS available for bids, which means my buddy's company will be submitting their bid. If everything goes according to Hoyle, then my buddy's company (and subsequently me) will be awarded a contract. This should provide me with 2 to 3 months of consulting.
My mother- and aunt-in-law came to visit us last weekend. It was a nice, but uneventful visit. The only thing of import was my wife's aunt's desire to adopt a cat from the local Humane Society. She's had a rough time looking after her (almost) 104 year old mother(my wife's grandmother) for the past year-and-a-half ... after the death of her brother of lung cancer/OCD. Her mother's physical health is pretty good for 103, but recently (and fairly rapidly) she's lost touch with reality. All of this has tired my wife's aunt quite thoroughly.
She's recently put her mother in a home and has started to "come back to life", so to speak. But, now she's lonely, hence the adoption of a cat.

This is George. He's shy, but very affectionate. It's going to take a little bit of time for him to acclimate to the apartment, but the two of them will become thick as theives, I'm very sure.
I had my third night of poker last night ... and it was my quickest departure. After only 20 minutes of playing and (roughly) 14 hands dealt, I was taken out.
I was dealt Ah Qh and raised the BB (Big Blind) by 5 times the amount ($500 in total - $100 BB and a raise of $400). One guy called my raise and we saw the flop - Qs Qc Jd. I flopped 3 Queens!! An excellent hand. I was first to bet and pushed in $600 - a strong bet. Buddy raised me another $600. My first thought was that he might have the 4th Queen, in which case my Ace was a great kicker. If he had 2 Aces or Kings, then I'm dominating him. He could be looking for a straight draw and might even have a lower pair, say 8's or 7's.
I decided I had him dominated and pushed in all of my chips. He had more than I did, so if he lost he was still in the game. He called. Since he called me, it's etiquette that I show my cards first. I was quite happy to show my Queen and felt confident I was going to win a very large pot. That was until he flipped over 2 Jacks - giving him a Full House! Ouch.
There was only 1 card that could help me - the 4th Queen. Turn card was 2c and the River was 4d. B'uh Bye!!!
Today I'm going to try and find out what the hell were the results of my Ultrasound and X-Rays of my shoulder were. It's been almost a month since they were taken and I figured I would have heard something from my doctor's office by now regardless of whether or not something was discovered. It shouldn't be my responsibility to call them for results.
More to follow.
