Head Hunting

My business went in the toilets a few weeks ago, so I'm looking for employment and I've come to notice it's a long process. I've been here before, but it really only struck me this time around and I must admit that as you get older it takes longer to find employment.

I've got friends looking out for me, I'm sending out résumés all over the place through
Monster.ca and Workopolis - for positions from Vancouver to Ottawa - and have yet to get a bite. I'm sending out my résumé as soon as the job is posted, so it's most likely that the companies have a closing date (although they're not mentioned) and won't look at the submissions until after the closing. So, this just lengthens the process for me.

A friend's wife gave me the card to a lady she knows very well. She's a
Head Hunter at Head2Head Purchasing and I had my initial interview with her, so she can amplify my résumé and get a better understanding of what I've done in my career. Needless to say, after her questioning, I came to realize that what I thought was a robust career in Purchasing (Procurement) and Logistics ... really might not be after all. That scares me.

I'm thinking that going back into the UN might not be such a bad idea after all. LOL. Maybe I should look are re-enlisting into the
Canadian Forces. I may be older, but I'm not fatter!! Well, okay maybe just a little bit more overweight. I'd definitely have to lose a few pounds first!

Interesting to note though, when I left the military in 1996 I was making $50k a year - after 4 years of no pay increases, only cost of living. If I was to get back in at the same seniority, I'd be making $76k ...

More exploits to come.
