Sports Long Weekend

This past long weekend turned out to be a sport's buff's dream. Hockey, baseball, basketball, golf ...

A quick summary of the events that mattered to me this weekend:
  • My beloved Leafs were knocked out of the last playoff spot by the NY Islanders (WHO!?). The Jays
  • The Jays took 2 from the Tampa Bay Rays (I think they've dropped the "Devil" part of their nickname)
  • Zack Johnson (WHO!?) won the Masters. Although I believe Tiger is a phenominal golfer - maybe the greatest ever - the media makes you want to hate him. Anything and everything about their broadcast is focused around Tiger - regardless of whether he's in contention or not. At least Mikey made the Top 20 despite an 80 on Saturday.
  • The Raptors captured their first ever Division title. They're 2nd in their conference with a record of 44-33. Well done to Brian Colangelo and his Phoenix-styled approach to building a team!!
  • Canada's Men's Curling Team matched the Canadian Women's Curling Team with a win at the World Championships.

Well, I can't say I'm interested in the Hockey playoffs anymore, with Toronto out of the picture, so my focus will be on the Raptors and the Jays.
